School Field Trip Policy The following are a list of rules for all students on school trips.
The School Code of Behaviour Policies has been adopted by the staff and School Council at WLSS and is subject to review and change as necessary.

- All school trips are considered an extension of the school and as such, students on these trips will be
expected to follow school rules. NO: fighting, bad language, physical intimacy, rough housing. - Students involved in school trips must stay at the accommodations arranged by the school. Exceptions to this rule will be made only by prior arrangements, with the principal, parents/guardians and sponsoring
teachers. - The staff member – in - charge on such trips has the final authority and the right to discipline any
students who are in breach of these rules. - Use of drugs or alcohol by any students on a school trip will result in those students involved being sent
home at their own expense and could lead to further punitive action such as suspension from school. - Curfew times, as set forth by the staff member – in - charge involved, will be adhered to by all students. While staying in hotels, students will be expected to be in their own rooms and quiet by 11:00 P.M. No students are to leave their rooms after this time except in the case of an emergency and then they must
immediately contact a chaperone. Chaperones will check rooms periodically. - Students involved in school trips are there for specific reasons. The allocation of free time is at the
discretion of the staff member – in - charge. - When teams are staying in hotels, boys’ rooms are off limits to the girls and vice versa. No non - team
members are allowed in any rooms. - Smoking is not permitted while on school-sponsored functions.
- When traveling to and from all activities the following rules are in force:
- The staff member – in – charge has the final authority on the bus
- The use of stereos is at the discretion of the chaperones. If you wish to listen to music, bring a
personal stereo with earphones - While in transit students are to remain seated. Noise and activities which distract the driver will
not be permitted - Eating on the bus will only be permitted if it is agreeable to the driver. Students are not to
throw their litter on the floor. The bus is to be kept neat and tidy. Students are required to clean the interior of the bus as requested by the sponsor. There is a $25.00 charge for vehicles which have not been cleaned; - In vehicles which are equipped with seat belts, they must be worn.
- The staff member – in – charge has the final authority on the bus
- Students are expected to attend school right up to the time they are to leave for an event and
immediately upon their return. Students who take time off school to "get ready" or "rest-up" upon
returning may not be taken on future trips. - Consequences – If any of the rules mentioned above are broken by the Student Athlete, the disciplinary
actions listed below will be enforced depending on the severity of the offense:- Forfeit opportunity to participate in the next game
- Forfeit opportunity to participate for the remainder of the tournament or field trip activities
- Intoxicated in a public place is the same for a Student Athlete as it is for any other
member of society; Student Athlete will spend the night in the custody of the RCMP - Sent home at the expense of the parent/guardian; failure to do so will have the Student
Athlete delivered to Social Services - Forfeit opportunity to participate to the Athletics programs for the remainder of the school year, or period set by the administration of the school
- Serve dismissal from school
- Serve suspension from school
- Serve an expulsion from school
- Legal actions according to the Penal Code of Canada.
- Forfeit opportunity to participate in the next game
